Our Activities

The Pole Pole Association, in line with the objectives outlined in its statute, primarily carries out the following activities:

  • Support for children and young people in situations of hardship, with a particular focus on educational development.
  • Education and healthcare assistance.

Pole Pole ODV, through the work of its volunteers, has conveyed the values of solidarity, transparency, and professionalism. The operators of Pole Pole Africa are capable of planning projects and supporting them logistically, administratively, and in terms of human resources, while respecting their cultural traditions.

International Training Program

Pole Pole Africa, with funding from the Barrington Education Initiative (B.E.I. Foundation) and in collaboration with Watoto Kenya Onlus, organized a seminar at the Keresha Pole Pole Center in January 2016. This seminar, titled “International Training Program,” was aimed at teachers in the Malindi district and was conducted by Professor Reeta Sonawart (Human Development University, Mumbai, India).

In March 2018, the second seminar “International Training Program” was held, conducted by Professor Reeta Sonawart in collaboration with Watoto Kenya Onlus in Malindi at the Red Cross.

School and Healthcare Education

School and healthcare education are the cornerstones on which the association’s activities are focused. In accordance with its statute, the association is committed to promoting social solidarity and mutual understanding between Italy and Kenya. It does so through volunteer efforts, without profit, with specific emphasis on areas of health, the environment, human rights, and local economic development. The association intervenes with projects aimed at poverty alleviation, not through charity, but through sustainable development initiatives that leverage local resources and mobilize the beneficiary populations

Pole Pole seeks to address the poor nutritional conditions of children by providing them with free breakfast and lunch.

The Clinic and Polepole Junior School in Keresha:

In 2014, we inaugurated the multipurpose center in Keresha, which provides free healthcare to the population, primarily children. It also offers school education and accommodates a small number of children facing severe difficulties.

Pole Pole Center

In Keresha, since 2015, on the previously acquired land, we have commenced the construction of a center comprising 6 buildings and 12 bathrooms. The center includes 12 classrooms, a clinic, a dormitory, a kitchen, a staff building, a laundry facility, and a warehouse.
